  • BS degree in Food Science or other technical area is required, with a Master's of Food Science preferred
  • Strong communication skills, internally, with all team members, internal and external customers and outside vendors
  • Basic knowledge of food production and processing at plant level
  • Thorough knowledge of food safety standards, HACCP, and Serve Safe Certification; basic culinary knowledge related to equipment and technical skills
  • Must have thorough knowledge of food products, recipe & procedural writing, costs, and manufacturing, plus an understanding of restaurant equipment and services
  • Requires a thorough understanding of management principles, especially of time management, business strategy, and setting priorities
  • Must have knowledge of trends, consumer insights, and competitive restaurant/menu strategies
  • Requires independent analytical and creative effort regarding proper procedures, planning of work, and follow-up
  • Requires adaptability to handle multiple projects simultaneously while addressing aggressive timetables for completion
  • Expertise in Genesis
  • Some travel is required

Responsible for the prototype development, product technology development and project management while effectively leading the R&D team to prioritize and execute projects.

  • Function in the capacity of product based project leader for product development programs from ideation / inception through introduction and full roll-out 
  • Responsible for resolution of technical issues that arise during the development of new and/or improved products, be they production, operational, or performance based
  • Develop strategic new products and carry through processes from inception through manufacturing, formulating new product concepts, line extensions, and revisions to hit cost targets and/or quality requirements
  • Validate ingredients and ingredient vendors, performing preliminary costing and preparing nutritional panels. Refines formulations until agreed parameters are achieved
  • Will be responsible for managing new product innovation databases
  • Will work with key suppliers to stay abreast of upcoming trends, novel ingredients, and new application ideas
  • Responsible for creating and managing multiple technical documents, including but not limited to product specification sheet, dietary ingredient specification sheets, stability protocols and testing protocols
  • Will perform initial intellectual property searches to ensure that initial formulations are not in violation
  • Will be responsible for gathering all information required for new product dossiers and be responsible for the development of compliant supplement/nutrition facts panels and ingredient listings
  • Formatting for gathering formula cost information
